A comparison of aldous huxleys novel brave new world and our current society

Our world that we live in is neither, nothing is of absolute good and nothing is of absolute bad. We live in an unhinged society that keeps us going. You can change everything from place to place, story to story, based upon your own knowledge of the world you live in, and the world you live in is such a base factor for your imagination that really anything can become anything.

Aldous Huxley bases Brave New World strongly on what he had experienced and seen in the world, and now has a relevance to our current world that we see today.

He has taken a view of a separate society, twisted it, and formed it to what he believed could happen in the future. Is it really much different then what has happened? At first look it looks nothing alike, but when you dig deeper you see the similarities and the differences around topics that have faced us everyday. Huxley creates a utopian world where nothing is mistrusted and everyone thinks that all that happens there is right, except for the select few.

His utopian creation sets up a place where there is no judgment and a lot more freedom still with the imminent domain of control. How fast would you like to get it? We'll occasionally send you account related and promo emails. With his openness of sex, erotic play in young children, use of drugs, statuses, and consumerism, Huxley takes what he has seen and what he knows from experience and deforms it into a partial reality to our world today. Huxley grew up in a time of wars, through a fight for power over all domains and with trips to the states he saw the other side.

He saw how people were more open with themselves, sexually and not, and how consumerism had such a big part to play in America. The affiliation with our world in Brave New World was there from the beginning, but our world has begun to relate more and more as we have grown as a civilization. Today in 2012 we have developed forwards and back. Creating a controversial view on sex, drugs, and our statuses in society.

  1. Today in 2012 we have developed forwards and back. The final theme that both world differ in is in religion, science, history, and art.
  2. Young kids, five and six, are encouraged to play with each other with erotic behavior, the normality of the promotion of young sex, young erotica, as many sex partners as possible is weaved into everyday situations.
  3. Sex as Recreation Children of the New World play with one another naked.

The types of openness that we have are so demeaning in our society that we judge and hate. Everything is illegal and if it is not illegal, we frown upon it because we see it as demoralizing, but yet we still do it. Teen sex, sex trade, raves, parties, poor vs. What we learn in school and execute in life is how we learn and grow as people: With primarily no mothers in Brave New World it is near impossible for children to be born through sex and live birth so babies are made in an intricate test tube, science factory proses.

From the beginning stage to the end babies are made in test tubes and are constructed to look and grow as a certain status. People are made to fit their caste, designer people is where Brave New World stands.

The process of creating an embryo and child effectively and by a long conveyor system with heaters and rays is an extensive process that all has to be done in a controlled area is a balanced process of science and life. Today on earth we are able to go to the doctor if we cannot produce babies ourselves. People can go through a surgery and procedure to remove the eggs from the woman and get sperm from the man and through an intricate procedure you can make a baby.

Nowadays, you can choose hair color, height, gender, and anything you want in a kid and you will get that baby, like ordering a pizza. There is no way in telling whether or not that the medically helped process to making babies is actually a leap forward or not. Some people would rather say that if you cannot bear children on your own that you are ust not meant to and then you can adopt, but this ability has managed the science and medical community to help out families and has saved lives by creating babies to match older siblings who have illnesses like leukemia to help give cell transplants, organs, and blood.

In Brave New World it is about creation and creating more people to surplus the population and just to create. Now in 2012, it is about creating and making a family, that is a big part of it but there is the reason of creating for a purpose a purpose to help and save.

  1. Need Help With Your Essay? Having a serious relationship, one partner, for a decent period of time is looked down on.
  2. Religion guides us, and gives us something to believe in and a set of rules to live by. He still presents a consequence, but really everything has a consequence.
  3. When someone says no to having sex with you, it is a bit of an outrage and is considered abnormal.
  4. Everyone is specially conditioned to love their ranking in life and the work that they do.

We have a balance here. Both worlds have the ability to pick and choose, create life from a test tube and have it thrive as a human being for the purpose needed. Whether or not it is about just having a kid, creating just another person, saving a life, or anything else, the ability is there and is present in both situations.

The ability to sleep with as many people as you can is promoted rather then diminished. The support that goes into having as many sex partners is high, whereas those who have only one have no support.

Having a serious relationship, one partner, for a decent period of time is looked down on. The place and fact of it all is that sex is right for any age and the more people that you have had, the better it is.

Young kids, five and six, are encouraged to play with each other with erotic behavior, the normality of the promotion of young sex, young erotica, as many sex partners as possible is weaved into everyday situations. When someone says no to having sex with you, it is a bit of an outrage and is considered abnormal.

Huxley promotes the sexuality in humans, the young and old, as normality and as a lifestyle. Sex trafficking, sex slaves, sex abuse, child sex abuse, incest, rape, none of which are things to be joked about today.

Sex is complicated in our world with all of the illegal relations with it, but there is a common routine. Everybody does it, so it must be right, but the common age for people to have sex has substantially dropped over the past few years.

  • In the World State, the government overpowers everything; it is a totalitarian government;
  • Huxley promotes the sexuality in humans, the young and old, as normality and as a lifestyle;
  • He still presents a consequence, but really everything has a consequence;
  • Many people still value things like art, religion, political causes, ethical values, and self improvement in America;
  • Early in the book, the process of mass human production is introduced;
  • Soma and drugs are used to escape the harshness of reality, and some people, both in our world and theirs, absolutely could not imagine a life without them.

From people being in their early twenties or on their wedding night, the average age for first time sex is as low as sixteen, though in some countries it is still twenty plus. That is what statistics tell us, but in reality there are kids as young as ten and eleven in Canada and the United States willingly submitting themselves for sex. We judge and humiliate over the matter. The sex industry has become such a profitable one in countries all over the world.

Sex is rarely about doing that one thing with the person that you really love. Our world is about acts; it is the act of doing something and taking the things that you really want. Huxley has his point of open sex and sex with as many people to create a type of equality.

The equality level of it is better. Sure people still will try to take it from others but it is not as bad because of his balance. He still presents a consequence, but really everything has a consequence.

The people of Brave New World use this drug for everything.

  • That is what statistics tell us, but in reality there are kids as young as ten and eleven in Canada and the United States willingly submitting themselves for sex;
  • Today on earth we are able to go to the doctor if we cannot produce babies ourselves;
  • You are born in your status; it depends on how you grow during the growth process as an egg;
  • In Huxley's novel, the drug soma, "euphoric, narcotic, pleasantly hallucinant" Ch;
  • Also, the Solidarity Service has replaced religious services in the New World; this service is a parody of large evangelist services in today's world;
  • Young kids, five and six, are encouraged to play with each other with erotic behavior, the normality of the promotion of young sex, young erotica, as many sex partners as possible is weaved into everyday situations.

Everyone does it and hospitals give it out. It is such status quo in their lives. They need to have that connection to their drugs and have the drug relation with everyday life with all people, it is near disturbing. Their Solidarity Service is a setting where you take the drug together and make your heartbeat as one. You take the drugs in a process of a few steps while in between you rest and chant. Slowly your heart will beat with everyone else.

They want the unity that is connected to the drugs. Huxley has a strong bond between drugs and sex in his book.

Compare the society in Brave New World with modern American society.

He relates everything to each other. Soma is a unique substance, not perfectly fitting into any known drug category. It is a crucial part of their lives and it is important for them to retain that connection. The control that they have is to maintain their drug intake and face the consequences.

You can still go into a drug coma and can still die. With those minor problems it seems as if their drug is as normal to them as juice and coffee is to us. It keeps our blood sugar up and it keeps them content.

They kill, they torment, they do harm to everyone involved. Pot, coke, dope, oxi, and many more to name are constantly in media, schools, and on the streets. Drugs are used for hallucinations, pain relief, and distress. They have many uses but in society, they are not found as appropriate. Drugs are a profound subject and are constantly under the microscope. Good or bad they are used in society for everything.

Both worlds have drug caused deaths, but drugs also help. Drugs are complicated and no matter whom you talk to each person will have a different view on them.

Brave New World Compared to Today

Whether they view them as good, bad or both there will never be an easy answer. In truth drugs make people happy, in both worlds, whether they are deemed inappropriate or not there will always be someone happy, and in cases they will always aid. Split, status and consumerism are separated and controlled. You are born in your status; it depends on how you grow during the growth process as an egg. When you are born as an Alpha or Epsilon you are stuck as that for your whole life.

Brave New World is a very consumer based society where you are always trying to buy the newest and best thing out there. It is a place where you want to have the best thing out of all your friends.

In Brave New World it is so strongly based with the fact that you are born the way you are and nothing will change that. The way you look, how tall or short you are, and if you have any disabilities shows whether or not you are low or high and what kind of jobs you can attain. Status is what you are born with, not what you grow up with or make yourself.

It is different then the rest of his book by the fact that not everyone is happy. He is just a little shorter and has to be more assertive to people to show his status level. Consumerism is so relative to the images that are sent out. They want you to buy, and buy, and buy so that you look high and right in a way that is acute to your status. Status and consumerism are linked in our world. The more you have the higher status that you have and the more popular you are. It is all about buying things and how much money you make and own.

Consumerism is based partially by influence. You see what someone else has and you want it, so you go out buy it and buy something else because that can show you have more money for things then the other person.

We live in a consistent flow of the need to out buy everyone around you.
