The boy scouts of america the organizations influence on my life

How Scouting has influenced my life.

After 42 years, I still experience a great satisfaction from working with a program that is making a positive contribution to society. We have gone places and shared experiences that we might not have otherwise. Scouting has also given me the privilege of being involved in the lives of many other boys and young men. It is incredibly rewarding to watch as they grow and develop into capable, independent young men.

Scouting gives boys from all backgrounds a place where they can learn and have fun in an environment that is friendly and accepting. They end up with values and skills that they will use the rest of their lives. I wouldn't trade my years as a leader in Scouting for anything.

It has fulfilled and enriched our lives beyond belief. I have witnessed so many success stories and heard of countless others, where Scouting has changed the lives of young people, given them direction and the tools necessary to be leaders and contributors to the betterment of society, and the world is a much better place because of it.

How Scouting has influenced my life ...

It has made all the difference in my life. I started off this journey as a Daisy Girl Scout and I am still part of the Girl Scout organization, being part of Troop 4165 and a program aide for camp. I'm also a Venturer in the Boy Scouts.

  • It has fulfilled and enriched our lives beyond belief;
  • It has made all the difference in my life.

I belong to Crew 40 and am currently serving as the W. Boy Scouts have helped me to become a better leader, or at the very least, drew me out of my shell.

Never miss a story

I've met some wonderful people through scouts, learned how to deal with different types of people and situations, have doors open for me that might be otherwise shut, and found that I can do things that I might otherwise be uncertain about. In all honestly, I once heard that it's not about the destination, but about the journey.

Scouting is part of my journey, I just don't know where that destination will be yet. Through its many programs and fun, Boy Scouts can teach and shape the youth of today into responsible young men and women with basic skills that can help them soar through life.

I have been afforded many opportunities through Scouting, to work with other youth teaching skills that may lead to a career or hobby that someday they may become good at.

Scouting in about FUN! Fun in troop activities, fun at camp, fun at learning life skills. Where else can you learn so much, have more fun, and become a better person besides. Scouting has instilled a sense of responsibility that most kids my age do not have.

Without them, I would definitely not be the person that I am today. Digital access or digital and print delivery.
