Even if you never find the elusive beach which goes by the same name, Cua Can village is a true tropical delight with its local houses built on stilts right over the river, and local inhabitants hurrying around in their conical hats. The most accessible of the northern beaches, Cua Can is about 11km from Duong Dong. It remains mercifully quiet during the week, but can get busy at weekends. A ride through the villages around Cua Can is interesting, with the road crossing the river several times on rickety wooden bridges.

Information

This beach can be found on an inlet north of Ong Lang Beach and Cape Ganh Lon, on the west coast. It is about 15km from Duong Dong. Beyond Cua Can looms the remote north-west cape of Phu Quoc, including Dai Beach and Cape Ganh Dau. If you riding from Duong Dong to these gems on the north coast, you can refill your scooter tank at a petrol station in Cua Can Village. With a little luck you will find the mysterious beach.

It is hard to believe it now, but a golf course could be built in this area if authorities have their way. For the time being, this place is unspoilt by the ravages of development.
